Bigger Triceps With These Key Exercises

 

 

Some bodybuilders and other weight-trained athletes neglect their triceps muscles. That’s a big mistake. The triceps make up two-thirds of your arms, so the bigger your triceps are, the bigger your arms are going to look. Not only are the triceps critical for filling out your arms, but the triceps also give you pushing power for bench and incline presses.

 

The Georgia Tech Sports Medicine and Performance Newsletter suggested three great triceps exercises: standing dumbbell triceps extensions (sometimes called French curls), dumbbell kickbacks, and triceps press-downs on the lat machine.

 

Do the standing dumbbell triceps extension with either one or both hands. Start with arm fully extended overhead. Flex your arm so that the weight drops below your head. Keeping your elbows up, return the weight to the starting position. The dumbbell kickback is done one arm at a time. Bend over a table using your non-active arm for support. Keep your upper arm parallel to your torso, and extend your elbow until it is straight. In the triceps press-down, grasp the bar using a narrow grip with your palms down. Keeping your elbows at your sides, press down until your hands reach your waist. Return the weight slowly to the starting position.

 

These exercises are great for isolating the triceps and supplementing presses.
