Samson Dauda: Future Mr. O?

By Steve Blechman

The progress Samson Dauda has made in terms of size and weight over just the last two years has been nothing short of astonishing. Working with coach Milos Sarcev, The Nigerian Lion scored his first pro win at the 2021 Prague Pro. Just a few months later, he stepped onstage at his first Arnold Classic with 10 pounds of new lean muscle tissue, sporting 280 pounds with the same beautiful shape and structure and diminutive waistline. Fast-forward to his first Mr. Olympia contest in 2022, and Samson was a staggering 294 pounds! There, he placed sixth, only one spot behind defending two-time Mr. Olympia, Big Ramy. Now, as Samson prepares for his second Mr. Olympia contest, he does so as one of the men favored to win.

Giles Thomas has been a front-row witness to all of Samson contests since 2014 and admits that he never predicted Samson would become the sensational pro we see today. In “Samson Dauda: Is 2023 the Year of the Nigerian Lion?” Giles Thomas recounts the progress of this sensational bodybuilder from his early amateur days in the UK to the present.

Will a new King be crowned at this year’s Olympia Weekend? For over 20 years, the Mr. Olympia saw long phases where one man dominated the sport and held the title for many years. More recently, that trend has changed. Since 2017, there have been five Mr. Olympia contests and four champions: the late Shawn Rhoden, Brandon Curry, Big Ramy, and our reigning Mr. O, Hadi Choopan. This year no one is guaranteed the win, and a few names are being mentioned as potentially earning the title of 2023 Mr. Olympia. Ron Harris looks at the front-runners in “Battle for Olympia Gold: Who Will Reign Supreme in Orlando?”

Now that the weather is cooling down, it’s time to switch gears and turn our attention to that second part of the word bodybuilding – building! Most of us can never be too big or too strong, and that season is upon us. With that in mind, Ron Harris provides nine tips to make sure you have your best and most gain-filled off-season ever in “Grow Time! 9 Ways to Supercharge Your Off-Season and Get Huge!”

Don’t just build a bigger physique, but a better one that will stand out from those of others who put zero thought or planning into theirs. We truly are sculptors of our own bodies, so take control of your chisel and strive to create a masterpiece. Train to get a V-taper and don’t let your midsection get too big – those are some of the pointers in“Build Classic Mass!6 Ways to Get a Physique With Crazy Mass and Killer Shape.”

You’ve probably seen Robert Wilmote in any number of his hilarious viral short videos, often kicking junk food out of people’s hands and furiously admonishing them to “stop looking soft, weak, and sloppy!” His YouTube channel alone has 2.2 million subscribers with over 1 billion combined views. There is a lot more to this muscular character than the outrageous persona we see on social media. Read more in “No Days Off!Meet ‘NDO Champ’ and MuscleMeds Athlete Robert Wilmote.”
