The womens competition featured an international field of woman from Italy, Slovakia, Sweden, Canada, and Great Britian.  However, when the smoke cleared, the IFBB judges sent a very clear and distinct message-beautiful, aethetic, well-conditioned muscle is the new standard is women's bodybuilding.

3rd Place:

If a device existed that could measure the amount of positive energy a person exudes, Debbie Bramwell would cause the meter to explode.  Great delt, quad, and tricep development perfectly complement her feminine presentation and trademark jet-black curly hair.  When Debbie is "on", she's extremely tough to beat and she definitely proved her mettle in this tough lineup in finishing 3rd and qualifying for her first Ms. Olympia.

2nd Place:

Klaudia Larsen, of Sweden, traveled a long way to prove that she, indeed, had what it takes to break the top 3 and earn a trip to the prestigious Ms Olympia contest.  A self-professed loner in her hometown, Klaudia challenged eventual winner, Nicole Ball, right down to the wire.  Larsen's small waist and impressive muscle separation make her appear larger than life when she's onstage.  If she adds just a little more mass to her entire body, I feel that she'll have a total package that will start winning pro shows in the very near future.

1st Place:

Canadian Nicole Ball brought what one judge decribed as the ideal look for women's bodybuilding.  With a perfect blend of muscle, conditioning, and downright sex appeal, Nicole represents where the future of women's bodybuilding should be heading.  If the judges continue rewarding this kind of a "look", expect to see many more doors open for the top women of the sport.

It's interesting to note that although several girls in tonight's lineup might have had more muscle, better shape, or harder conditioning, no one else blended all these factors into a better overall package than Nicole.  I'd like to congratulate Nicole on her first overall win and automatic qualification for the Ms Olympia in September.
