FINALS FLASH REPORT: THE BATTLE OF ATLANTA

2012 NPC Nationals Men’s Bodybuilding Championships

The 2012 NPC Nationals Championships is in the books and TEAM MD was front row center for all of the action. Over 800 competitors took the stage in Atlanta and 62 are leaving as IFBB Professionals. Here’s what went down in the ATL:

Men's Bodybuilding
Brian Yersky is the 2012 NPC NATIONAL CHAMPION! Thirty years after Lee Haney won the first NPC National Championship, Yersky was the last man standing.

Yersky has been a top National-level competitor for years and finally showed up with the package that would win the Super Heavyweight class and the Overall Title! Thick muscle, broad shoulders, and a tight waist highlighted the best man on stage in Atlanta.

Bikini
Class D winner Angela Skeets took top honors over the other five class winners to take the NPC National Bikini Overall title. Skeets had the stage presence and poise to catapult her to the top.

Men's Physique
Men's Physique was divided into six classes and the top two in each class were awarded IFBB Pro status. Class A winner Vincent Fiore took the overall honors. This new division is growing rapidly and the quality of competition continues to reach new heights.

Women's Bodybuilding
Women's Bodybuilding offered the fewest cards and had the smallest turnout with less than 50 competitors across the four divisions and four pro cards were awarded. The classes were stacked and the women showed up in shape!

Heavyweight Juanito Blaino walked away with the overall title. She carried a lot of mass on a big frame and she had the condition to match.

Women's Physique
In Women's Physique, Class C winner Toni West nabbed the overall crown. She will be one to watch in the future. As Team MD's Peter McGough pointed out, "She really doesn't have any missing parts."

Figure
Nicole Sims took the overall in one of the closest decisions of the night. The girls were lined up for the overall comparison and turned many times over before deciding on Sims as to be the champion. At this high level of competition no one would have been surprised to see any of the girls take home the crown.
