Roelly, Rockel, Jewell & more Set to Showdown in Finland
Seventeen men will battle this weekend for the last remaining Olympia qualification of the season. With Toney Freeman, Hidetada Yamagishi, and Shawn Rhoden all notably absent from the line-up, Roelly Winklaar looks to be the front runner. Of course, Ronny Rockell could have something to say about that.
Winklaar has placed fourth both times he competed this year against a very stacked line-up. He failed both times to come into competition looking as good as he did in the pictures his camp posted at a few weeks out. Of course, an off Roelly can still place well at most competitions.
We’ve yet to see Ronny Rockel compete this year. Always in condition, controlling his stomach seems to be the continual thorn in his side. If he doesn’t watch it, that could be the difference between a first and second place finish here. The dark horse at this show could be Baitos Abbaspour from Iran. He placed third at the Mr. Europe last year and has had quite a few months off to make some changes to his already notable physique. Also competing will be Team MD’s Todd Jewell. He surprised everyone with the package he brought to his pro debut in Tampa, and this will mark the third competition of his pro career.
Not to be overlooked, there is also a pro figure competition. None of the girls on the line-up are qualified, so that should make for an interesting show. Former MD Major Distraction, Gal Ferreira-Yates, is competing here and is definitely a crowd favorite. Only time will tell if she’s a judge’s favorite as well.
