RON HARRIS GIVES THE JUDGING WRAP UP - LIVE!

Today in Indianapolis marked the first show of the IFBB Pro League for Open Bodybuilding and 212 Bodybuilding for 2021.

The 212 division kicked it off, and the battle for the win between defending Indy Pro champ Noel Adame and Olympia top 4 finalist John Jewett never materialized, though I believe it should have. John was complete and shredded, with beautiful shape and clear muscle separation. Noel was thicker and in equally freaky condition, but appears to be destined for fourth place. Instead, rookies Nathan Epler from Indiana and Tonio Burton from Reno are likely second and third. Nathan has excellent structure and shape, and could not have been more peeled. Being critical, I did see his arms looking weak in both the side chest and side triceps poses. Tonio is thick with a crazy X-frame shape, and we will be seeing a lot more from him soon in this division I’m sure. Rhode Island’s Justin Randall was in top form and will likely round out the top 5. I was hoping to see both Derik Oslan and Samir Troudi fighting for the win today, but neither brought the type of condition I was hoping to see.

Most of the hype around this show was centered around the debut of Blessing Awodibu. I hate to use the word disappointing because I know how hard he worked, but I was expecting a lot more. It seems he lost a lot of the fullness he had been showing even as recently as three or four weeks ago. While the condition was still pretty good, things weren’t really popping. Hopefully this is something he can fix by next weekend for the New York Pro. My prediction for the win going into this was Justin Rodriguez, and he pulled through with a fantastic package today. He was big, ripped, and confident. However, he got a real run for his money from Russia’s Mohamad Elam. Mohamed looked incredible, thicker than Justin and with true grainy condition. More than a few people feel he might get to win, and I don’t think there would be a whole lot of uproar if that happens. Colorado’s Dorian Haywood brought plenty of size with good shape, though I still want to see him show up shredded and dry. Morgan Aste from France was by far the biggest man on stage today at 315 pounds, And just like at his pro debut last year at the Arnold Classic, he was nasty ripped and dry. I do want to see more quads on him to balance out that massive upper body. I could almost say the same thing about Dwayne Walker, former 212 competitors with incredibly wide shoulders, a tiny waist, and beautiful shape and symmetry. Dwayne needs a lot more lower body mass and then I think we will see him moving up in the placings.

Even though finals are really just a few hours away, physiques can change quite a bit in that short span of time, and we now have the ‘Confirmation Round’ where the athletes are essentially judged all over again. We will see how it all shakes out very soon here in Indianapolis!
