2022 Arnold Classic Day 1 Judging Report

by Ron Harris

This afternoon saw judging for Fitness, Figure, and Classic Physique.

Fitness had its physique round, which counts for 50% of the score. The routine round comprises the remainder, and they will perform those tonight. Top 2 here came down to defending champ Missy Truscott and the petite powerhouse, Ariel Khadr

Figure is looking to be a lock for ‘Vytamin C,’ 5X Olympia champ Cydney Gillon. Places 2-4 in no particular order should go to Lola Montez, Nicole Zenobia-Graham, and Jessica Reyes Padilla.

Classic Physique did turn out to be the battle between 4 men that many of us predicted. Defending champ Terrence ‘Ruff Diesel’ Ruffin came in with his trademark killer shape, dense muscularity, and razor conditioning and appears to be on track to repeat.

Second and third place was very close. I’m giving second to the new phenom from Brazil, Ramon Rocha Queiroz aka Ramon Dino. His size, shape and structure are astonishing, and he looked almost skinless. I have the youngest man onstage, Germany’s Urs Kalecinski aka The Miracle Bear, in third. He’s added a few quality pounds to his upper body since the Olympia last October, and his quads were incredible. Urs’ conditioning was elite, with splintered muscle fibers everywhere you looked. The only man with even crazier cuts was the UK’s Michael Daboul, who based on the callouts was out of the top 5.

Fourth should go to 2X Olympia champ Breon ‘The Black Swan’ Ansley. Breon still has one of the very best physiques in the game, with particularly impressive back and arm development. To me he looked super flat, even down in size from the best version I’ve seen a couple times before. This took away from his condition, as the muscles weren’t pushing against the skin the way they should have, even though an educated I could tell he was still in fantastic shape.

Fifth place could go either to Hungary’s Peter Molnar or American Divine Wilson. Divine is the bigger man with enormous arms, but Molnar, who also packs some big guns, was leaner and far more confident onstage.

Finals begin for all 3 divisions tonight as well as judging for Men’s Open.
