So a week after a very interesting Mr. Olympia the IFBB goes on the road (or more succinctly in the air) for the Arnold Classic Europe being staged in Madrid, Spain, this September 25th and 26th. (Men’s open is on Saturday)

At the Olympia eventual champ (now five time champ) Phil Heath, who won’t be in Spain, was pushed pretty hard by those finishing second through fourth: Dexter Jackson, Shawn Rhoden and Dennis Wolf respectively, who will be contesting the Madrid event. Although that’s how they placed there was debate that with their conflicting strengths they could have finished in any 2-3-4 order and with all three of them having the capacity to improve (or fall away a little) things could change quite a bit in Madrid.

For Dexter Jackson he maybe can be a little tighter and drier than he was in Vegas. As regards Shawn Rhoden, he has to be a bit more aggressive and thrust himself into the action, while also controlling that lower stomach distension that was apparent last week. For Dennis Wolf, the priority is clear: hit peak fullness at the beginning of the prejudging and hold it throughout the contest. Something he failed to do in Vegas. Given these possible adjustments any of this trio can finish first, second or third.

Of course fifth place Olympian Big Ramy is in the show and if he tightens up considerably he can spoil the aforementioned three-man party. Same assessment could apply to Roelly Winklaar, seventh last week. Pushing toward a fourth place spot will be William Bonac hot off his breakthrough eighth place form a week ago.

Two interesting entrants are Alex Fedorov from Russia. only 18 months back in training after an eight-year layoff and Britain’s freaky Zack Khan who had a four-year hiatus (2009-2013) due to serious injury and hasn’t competed since seventh place at the 2013 Europa Supershow. Also in there is Russia’s Alex Lesukov, who has promised much since his 2012 amateur win at this event but has so far failed to deliver in the pros.

All in all the 2015 Arnold Classic Europe is shaping up to be a hard fought event, so have at it, take our poll and let us know who you think will win and who will be the top three. Plus any other comments.
