Best Ever Arms? Lee or Roelly...You Tell Us

Another – Tell Us Who & Why

Who has the best arms of all time? The gut reaction answer of many would be Arnold Schwarzenegger. But not so fast Sparkie, Arnold may have had the best biceps ever (with mountainous peaks befitting an Austrian) but his forearms and triceps lagged in comparison.  By “arms” we mean the whole enchilada of the upper limb with which you eat enchiladas. That means biceps, triceps, brachialis and forearms.

Some great champs besides Arnold have had great parts to an arm without the complete armory. Ronnie Coleman had terrific biceps, with forearms and triceps that didn’t match up. Dorian Yates had amazing triceps and forearms but his biceps were not in the same league.  Libor Minarik 1980s star from the Czech Republic had probably the best triceps ever but the rest of his arm development was a notch or two below.

In my view Lee Priest has reigned for some time as having the best all round arms of all-time but Roelly Winklaar – certainly the current rendition – is pushing the Australian hard for that accolade. You vote and tell us Lee or Roelly?

To add to the debate I have listed my top five selections for best arms ever. As in all bodybuilding assessments it is entirely subjective and therefore personal: thus I expect to get a few very “personal” replies to my ratings.

So in a list that will no doubt have some up in arms (and that doesn’t mean the victory pose) here are my choices for the top five guys of all time exhibiting total, remember total, arm development.

1 - Lee Priest: Thick, round and developed from every angle. He gets the vote because of the sheer unequalled balance between all aspects of his massive arm development.

2 - Roelly Winklaar: Just so much mass just hangs from his upper limbs, that his arms just stop the show when he’s “on”.  Tough choice between him and Priest.

3 - Phil Heath: Round muscle bellies, razor triceps and huge forearms that look like they have another biceps in the flexor region.

4 - Paul Dillett: Long muscle bellies with thickness and shape.

5 - Marko Savlanein: My pick for the craziest biceps peak ever. (Marko from Finland hit the scene like a meteor in 1997, but quickly burnt out.)

Honorable mentions: Aaron Baker, Joe Bucci, Boyer Coe, Josef Grolmus, Mike Matarazzo, Eddie Moyzan, Alois Pek, Sergio Oliva, Freddy Ortiz, Thierry Pastel, Jose Raymond, Vince Taylor, Casey Viator, Robby Robinson, Flex Wheeler
