Arnold Classic Australia

Who's Gunna Be Big Down Under?

A week is a long time in bodybuilding where bodies change more frequently than Kim Kardashian changes her kit. The week we’re talking about here is from last Saturday March 7th in Columbus, Ohio, on the occasion of the Arnold Classic US, to March 14th in Melbourne, Australia, for the staging of the inaugural Arnold Classic Australia. Factor in that traversing between those two points entails a journey of 10,500 miles and a flying time of 20 hours plus, and we have scenario of fluctuating physiques and fortunes literally being up in the air. (Times for the event are at the foot of this story.)

Some competitors will swear that such high altitude flights are great for getting water out of the system and drying out, while other will tell you the opposite -- that they’ll fill up with liquid like Donald Trump fills up with hot air. I guess like Jessie J at a party it can go either way.

Here’s the 12 –man Line up

Evan Centopani

Justin Compton

Brandon Curry

Toney Freeman

Dexter Jackson

Josh Lenartowicz

Cory Mathews

Sam Mohammed

Ben Pakulski

Luke Schrembi

Branch Warren

Roelly Winklaar

Five of the top six from Columbus will appear down under: Dexter Jackson (1st), Branch Warren (2nd), Justin Compton (3rd), Evan Centopani (5th), Roelly Winklaar (sixth). The top six man missing from the action is Cedric McMillan, although he will be there at the Scitec booth: Go figure?

Given what we saw last week it’s a safe bet that Jackson and Warren will be attempting to maintain a holding pattern with no big changes from what took them to top spots seven days ago. I can guarantee that Compton and Centopani will look different than the Columbus showing. Both will almost certainly attempt to sharpen up dramatically, treading that fine line of eradiating moisture, coming down in bodyweight to bring out deeper separation and cuts, while maintaining fullness. We’ll see what transpires. As for Roelly Winklaar, if he can rid himself of the extra midsection girth he exhibited last week it will be a feat on a par with the outcome of the Immaculate Conception.

Plus the event will stage a Pro Bikini and Pro Figure event.

Stay tuned to musculardevelopment.com while we bring you all the action as it happens (play by play, video interviews etc.) as only we can. Schedule of events below.
