Classic Physique Showdown:
Alex Cambronero Ready for Battle

By Ron Harris

When Alejandro “Fello” Cambronero announced he would be switching to Classic Physique, many felt it was a bad idea. As a 212, he’d tallied up four pro wins, and had made top 10 at the Olympia twice. Why not just stay in your lane and keep chipping away? What most didn’t realize was that he was right at the Classic weight limit for his height, and thus never had to sacrifice any hard-earned muscle mass. Alex had been “classic” as a 212 in terms of his shape and proportions. Teaming up with Neil “Yoda” Hill, this Redcon1 athlete won his Classic debut in Pittsburgh and was only narrowly edged out by Keone Pearson, who ironically enough is now himself moving to the 212 division. The rest of his season entailed earning top six at the Olympia and taking runner-up to two-time O champ Breon Ansley at the Yamamoto Cup in Italy. Alex was a very good 212 pro, and he’s already established himself as one of the best in Classic. The Arnold title will most likely come down to a war between Cambronero (making his Arnold Classic debut) and Steve Laureus.
